Cool Idea to Stem Brain Drain in Iowa

Iowa has the same problem as many states...our college educated young people leaving the state with their excellent Iowa education under their belts, and also a hefty loan debt. So the catch 22 is that they have to get a job to pay off their loans but some of the entry level jobs in the state do not help them meet that obligation. So a young group of freshmen legislators (all in their 20's) is proposing a board of 15 people ages 18 to 35 to advise the Legislature and the governor on the best ways to attract and retain young people in urban and rural areas. The panel would include a mix of men and women, from different political parties, from across Iowa. The bill has made it out of committee and is headed to the House for a vote soon. I'll keep you posted. The committee itself would not prevent brain drain, but it would be a step in the right direction.
